Fearcraft is one of my earlier Quake attempts, started early 2000 and put on the backburner for a year. I finally finished it off about a year ago, so I think it's finally time to release it! Complete with three small-medium sized levels that are almost a horror Hexen2 theme. The setting is a dark fantasy castle showing hints of industrial growth, built upon terrain and cliffs, and disappearing into the void. The last in the 'Alk' series, it wouldn't be an Alk map without the onslaught of custom monsters. Fearcraft includes the SOA enemies, Baron, Axeman and some tougher Quake monsters. Not high in difficulty, Fearcraft will provide some enjoyable gameplay.

The dark depths of your mind can craft great fears and horrors. As you lay in the forest, you could feel these horrors shaking through the boundaries of your mind. The sun was hidden by trees above, and the birds had gone suddenly quiet. Just a whistle of the wind could be heard flowing through the leaves. It was getting cold, but you kept your eyes shut.

The world now felt threatening. You were in the middle of nowhere, steering into the blackness of your own mind. Yet everything was becoming closer. It seemed the air, your body, your mind, was becoming suffocated by a thick cloud that engulfed everything. Your body was starting to tingle like a hundred tiny pins were being lightly thrown at you.

You clutched your chest and crawled into a ball. There was nothing there, but in your own mind and existence, you were being drowned and squashed by the air. The grass and weeds below you seemed to be moving. They felt like they were disappearing and leaving just a hard damp ground. But you kept your eyes shut.

Slowly, your panic and fear drifted away. You were no longer in the tight space the atmosphere had woven around you. It was alot colder, and the ground still felt hard. You opened your eyes and your heart violently shook at what you saw.

It was no longer the warm sunlit forest you had been lying in just minutes before. The sky was a terrible blood red, the terrain and cliffs around you were rotten and imposing. As you came back to your senses, you squinted into the distance. You could make out metal. And bricks, an entrance to some kind of castle? And something moving. It's coming this way...
