The Looming Madness
a b o u t
Your battles in Egyptian Myth have led you to a new ancient fortress built in the world of Quake. The cold, war drenched hell-hole of a world has slowly rotted its way into the temple, now decaying and crumbling into the shadows. Daikatana's Egyptian texture set is used, combined with Hexen2 and Rogue. Monsters are not scarce - around 130 including some custom monsters.

Your previous fight had left you worn. You had stumbled through a well guarded slipgate, hoping it would lead you home. It did, but to a place within your homeworld that Quake already inhabited. Told as an Egyptian Myth as a secret temple where ancient gods would visit. No human of present day knew it really existed, let alone find and explore it. But despite the comfort of knowing you were back home on Earth, it was too dangerous in this temple. You knew before you would find an exit you would come to your last fight. You had fought for too long. But just as your strength was getting very low, you found another slipgate. A slipgate leading out of this violent temple and back to Quake. You had to take the risk, and hope the other side wasn't well guarded like the entry slipgate.

It was. Guarded by more and bigger monsters, this time you would not be able to fight. So you took off into a stumbling sprint leaving blood in your trail. The three Vores could not keep up, you could hear their mind-piercing screams behind you and knew a tracking spike would be right on your tail. You managed to duck off into a side corridor and jump into a small room, and slam the door behind you. You barely got it shut when the entire door was blown apart by the Vore's ball. But you had escaped.

You now had time to look at your surroundings. It was another kind of Egyptian temple, but much more like a Quake version. The mixings of an Egyptian temple, with a cold, war drenched hell-hole of a world. The structure seemed to be built inside a cave as the floor was dirt and rock.

You had only enough time to catch your breath before you heard a roar. And then another. A Shambler was coming. Nice of him to warn me ahead of time, you thought, as you ran off in the other direction.

After running for a long time, you fell and decided to sleep, as you crawled into a crevice hidden by shadows. Since leaving the Shambler and Vores behind you had not heard or seen any more monsters, so maybe you were safe. Just for an hour, you thought.

A few hours later you awoke, strange noises above you had disturbed your rest. There must have been a structure above, perhaps built on the surface. And so you continued. You felt alot better, but unfortunately weren't equipped very well. In the sprint from the Vores you had lost all your weapons except an axe, shotgun and double shotgun. The situation wasn't uncommon, though. You were constantly leaving everything but your axe and shotgun in places of no return...

Soon you made a new discovery. It was a slipgate, and you wondered whether you should step in or not. Perhaps it led to the temple or structure on the surface? For sure it must be populated. Then again, these caves were not. At least back on the surface you won't be trapped in cold darkness.

You step into the slipgate...
